I am 30 more years younger than brother Andrew. Meeting him, who has served closely with Brother Lee for many years, knowing more from him of Brother Lee, and getting more into the burden of the ministry of the age, has been a great blessing from the Lord to me. As the beneficiaries of this ministry of the age, we all should bear the responsibility to propagate the truth given by the Lord through this ministry. Brother Andrew is such a pioneer and example to us in propagating the divine revelation.
I first met Brother Andrew in 2005. By that time, I had been meeting in a group for six years. As he was receiving his cancer treatment and recovering in Hong Kong, my group’s leader invited him to give messages for three consecutive Lord’s days. After his visit, the leader suggested that all the young people in the group should go to meet in the church in the Lord’s recovery. Then, about 30 young people turned from that group to the recovery, and I was one of them.
Since I entered the church life in the spring of 2005, I knew Brother Andrew in public meetings. Some saints testified to me that the Lord raised up a group of young people through the saints’ prayers in the 1960s. These young people genuinely consecrated themselves to the Lord and fervently pursued Him. This gave the Lord a new turn in the church. Brother Yu was one of those young people.
I got a closer contact with Brother Andrew in the 2005 winter training. During the training, brother Andrew and sister Marilyn invited us, the saints from Hong Kong, to their home. After the training, he took some of us to a nearby mountain for skiing and dinner. Brother’s company warmed and cherished us.
The first time I receive personal help from Brother Andrew was in 2013. I was at a juncture where I was considering whether I should continue my school and full-time service. I opened up the fellowship with him. His fellowship gave me great enlightenment and encouragement and helped me go before the Lord. Since then, I connected with a translation team, and gradually got into the burden of literature work, and took part in various translation projects.
In 2014, Brother Andrew stayed in Hong Kong for his health recovery. One day a brother asked me to Brother Andrew’s place to help him write a refutation article. Under his guidance, supervision, and revision, I completed the refutation article within a week and benefited a lot. I appreciated what Brother Andrew taught me about the proper spirit, attitude, and method of serving the area of defense and confirming the truth.
In 2015, I went to Chicago to continue my study for two years. After the summer training in 2016, Brother Abraham took me to see Brother Andrew, who suggested that I move to Southern California and recommended me to serve in DCP after graduation. Since moving to Southern California in 2017, I had a few opportunities to visit Brother Andrew with Brother Abraham to seek fellowship. Every time he shared the burden on the same line of confirming and spreading the ministry. Brother Andrew’s vision and consideration are very long term. Also, his visions and considerations are consistent with the burden of Brothers Nee and Lee. After each fellowship, the Lord spoke to me and I got a clear direction for my service.
I also saw Brother Andrew at the prayer meetings at the ministry campus on Monday morning. He would try his best to attend if he was in good health. Although his physical body was weak and restricted, his mind was clear, and his burden was also heavy. Whenever he met the right person, he would seize the opportunity to release and pour out these burdens.
Another appreciation of him is that for literature work, he practiced having a very regular and disciplined life. I admire him because his learning attitude is aggressive, his self-learning ability is outstanding, and his memory is extraordinary.
The most impressive word to me was what brother Andrew witnessed after he had a stroke in 2014. He shared the Lord gave him two things to do concerning the confirmation and spread of the ministry. We must continue to conduct the two things that the Lord entrusted our brother. Thank the Lord for preparing such a special gift for His Body. May the Lord raise more such gifts for the perfection of the saints and the building of the Body. I will always miss our dear brother.
